I was appalled that The Santa Barbara Independent chose to give Charles Owens, a convicted murderer/rapist, a voice in your newspaper. After sitting in his prison cell and fabricating this ridiculous dialogue and fictitiously detailed events, he was able to get “published” by your newspaper. The fact that he could find a lawyer to support his accusations is disgusting enough without finding a public venue for his rant. What was the point? I can see reporting the facts but to actually print his untruths is just very poor journalism.
