Twenty-seven-year-old Republican Justin Fareed announced Wednesday he’d been endorsed by Arizona Senator John McCain in the race to replace Congressmember Lois Capps. “Washington needs fresh ideas from new leaders like Justin Fareed, and I am proud to support him,” McCain said in a statement.

State Assemblymember Katcho Achadjian, who is a 64-year-old Republican also vying to represent the 24th District in Congress, secured last week the endorsement of the Armenian National Committee of America, the largest Armenian-American grassroots advocacy organization in the U.S.

In the latest round of Democrat support this week, Supervisor Salud Carbajal, 50, announced three former Santa Barbara mayors — Sheila Lodge, Hal Conklin, and Marty Blum — have endorsed him. Congressional hopeful and current Santa Barbara Mayor Helene Schneider, 44, announced Karen Bright, who is the president of the South County Democratic Club of San Luis Obispo and sits on the Grover Beach City Council, endorsed her.
