Electronic cigarette smokers are now subject to the same laws as traditional smokers in national parks, according to a policy update released today by National Park Service Director Jonathan B. Jarvis.
Citing addictive nicotine vapor and other cancer-causing agents present in e-cigarettes and electronic smoking devices, Jarvis said the National Parks Service is “extending the restrictions currently in place protecting visitors and employees from exposure to tobacco smoke to include exposure to vapor from electronic smoking devices.”
Effective immediately, e-cigarettes and their counterparts will be prohibited in all government-owned or leased facilities and vehicles, as well as at national park concessions facilities.
