There are those who think their religious beliefs trump the law and the rights of others. The anti-abortionist are quick to lay the blame on the doings of a lone madman. But when unhinged people hear all the toxic vitriol put out there by pro-life leaders, some look at it as a validation of irrational hatred and a call to violence.

Did they not think that all this anti abortion rhetoric would not incite violence of an assailant? The pro-life movement has a long history of violence going back decades. In the seven years leading up to 2014, there were close to 7,000 attacks on abortion providers: 182 acts of arson, 42 bombings, 18 murders, and 17 attempted murders.

When Carly Fiorina states it’s “state-sanctioned mass murder” and compares it to the horrors of slavery and the Holocaust, when Ted Cruz calls it a criminal enterprise, and when Mike Huckabee says they “rip up body parts and sell them like they’re part of a Buick,” they can’t be shocked when people take up arms so there are “no more baby parts.”

Every movement has a violent fringe, and when pro-lifers demonize Planned Parenthood to the extent they have, they provide justification for fringe elements to resort to violence. Unhinged people are going to take action as Dear did in Colorado.

It’s easy to lay the blame on the acts of deranged people, but if this witch hunt against Planned Parenthood doesn’t stop, there will just be more of the same violence the movement has a history of, and they’ll produce yet another “warrior for the babies.”
