An alcohol-fueled fight between three people in and out of bars on upper State Street sent one person to the hospital with minor injuries early Monday morning.

At about 12:41 a.m., city police responded to the 3100 block of State Street near Tiburon Tavern and Uptown Lounge, said Santa Barbara Police Lt. Brent Mandrell. One male suspect reportedly pulled a knife during the fight and began “slash[ing]” his opponents. He inflicted minor “lacerations” to the forearm and hand of one victim, who was treated at Cottage Hospital, according to Mandrell. The second victim was treated on scene by medics for a “slashing type wound” to his leg.

The suspect who reportedly wielded the knife had apparently been drinking, said Mandrell. He wasn’t taken into custody because he had fled the scene through a back alley behind the Uptown Lounge.
