Preliminary design for Fire Station 10 proposed for Western Goleta.

A new fire station in Western Goleta is being designed for what is now a sparsely wooded lot at 7952 Hollister Avenue, not far from the Hideaway housing development and Ellwood School. The City of Goleta invites residents to a meeting Thursday, November 17, 6-7:30 p.m. at the school’s Multipurpose Room (7686 Hollister) to learn about the project, view the proposed design, and hear the construction timeline.

Following a noxious hydrogen sulfide release from a water well being drilled up in Ellwood Canyon on October 9, the location has also been considered for a gas monitoring station, though it is not part of the current design, said Valerie Kushnerov, the city’s community relations manager. More information about the Fire Station 10 project can be found at the city’s planning site.
