On Friday, November 11, about 60 members of the Granada Theatre’s Premier Patron Society and their guests enjoyed a full evening of socializing and entertainment in conjunction with the performance of the a cappella group, Vocalosity.

The evening commenced with a reception in the lovely Founders Room with a buffet assortment of hot and cold dishes, and then there was an exhilarating performance by the 10-member a cappella group Vocalosity. Produced and directed by Deke Sharon (Pitch Perfect, The Sing-Off) and choreographed by Sean Curran, the performance included a wide range of hits in novel arrangements that were very pleasing to the ear and often hilarious.

The show included a short intermission where Society members stretched their legs while grabbing a drink and a snack in the Founders Room. After the show, Vocalosity cast members joined members back in the Founders Room for a lively party complete with champagne and dessert. There was a short, intimate performance by Airplay, the opening act, and time to mingle with the rising stars of both Vocalosity and Airplay.

Premier Patron Society members make annual donations of $10,000 or more to support the Granada Theatre. Benefits of membership include invitations to “meet the artist” events like this after-party, as well as invitations to other special events at the theater, and receptions hosted by board members, typically in their homes. For a full list of benefits, go to granadasb.org/PatronOsvationCircles.aspx.

Unlike many performing arts centers in other parts of the country, The Granada does not receive ongoing financial support from local or state government. It covers only half its budget through ticket sales and earned income, relying on private funding and community support for the difference.
