Carpinteria Resident Alan Thicke Dead at 69

Alan Thicke, a Canadian television host and actor best known for his role as the father on ABC’s Growing Pains, died Tuesday afternoon. He was 69.

Thicke, who kept a home in the Carpinteria foothills, was married from 1994-99 to Miss World 1990 Gina Tolleson, now the executive editor of Santa Barbara magazine. Thicke was reportedly playing hockey with their son, Carter, when he had a heart attack.

Thicke. an accomplished musician himself, was also the father of singer songwriter Robin Thicke, one of two sons from the elder Thicke’s first wife, Days of Our Lives actress Gloria Loring.
