Alert Cellular of Carpinteria has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, with $2.76 million owed to its largest creditor, JP Morgan Chase. The Carpinteria-based company is privately owned by CEO David Eseke, Jr., who founded it in 1995. With 130 retail outlets in the Western US, and 700 employees, it is a major distributor of Verizon Wirelessphones and accessories.
