Vandenberg Air Force Base, according to its public affairs office, erroneously posted on its website this week that it would be carrying out a test launch of a Minuteman III Intercontinental Ballistic Missile, capable of carrying nuclear warheads. The post, which was only up for a short period of time and has since been chalked up to an internal training error, raised the ire of the Santa Barbara-based Nuclear Age Peace Foundation, which lambasted the base for launching a nuke-capable rocket shortly after the United Nations’ Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) Review Conference wrapped up. Vandenberg, say officials, is actually launching a ground-based interceptor missile test on 6/6.
