Vice President Joe Biden Coming to Santa Barbara

Attending Fundraiser Dinner in Montecito Hosted by Democratic National Committee

Vice President Joe Biden will be in Santa Barbara Friday night for a $5,000-per-plate dinner for 25 guests put on by the Democratic National Committee and hosted at a private home in Montecito, according to several sources. The vice president’s wife, Jill Biden, will be joining him and giving a press conference at the airport about teaching.

The vice president will reportedly be spending the night Friday at the Four Seasons Biltmore and some street closures will be enforced. According to the Federal Aviation Administration, flight restrictions around Santa Barbara Airport will take effect Friday afternoon and last into Saturday afternoon.

The last time Biden came to town, in April 2012, his Boeing 757 hit a bird upon landing. He came to town for a fundraiser hosted by National Finance Committee member Nancy Koppelman. That event reportedly charged guests $2,500.

According the Santa Barbara Police Department and the Secret Service, the following street closures will be in effect Friday and Saturday.
