Two men kidnapped and robbed an Isla Vista resident Monday afternoon, and Santa Barbara authorities are asking for the public’s help to catch the suspects.

At around 3 p.m., two Hispanic males driving a tan 2005 Chevy Tahoe with the license plate 6ZEM856 kidnapped the female victim in the 6700 block of Abrego Road, said Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Kelly Hoover. The pair then drove the victim to a bank where she was forced to withdraw an undisclosed amount of cash. At approximately 3:25 p.m., the suspects — one in his mid-30s, the other in his 50s — returned the victim to the area where she was taken and released her.

Sheriff’s deputies and detectives responded to the victim’s 9-1-1 call and were assisted by UCSB police and an Air Support Unit helicopter, but the suspects’ car was not located.

“The Sheriff’s Office is requesting the public to be on the lookout for the vehicle used in this crime,” said Hoover. “If you see the vehicle, do not approach it but call 9-1-1 immediately. Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to call the Sheriff’s Anonymous Tip Line at 681-4171.”
