John_A: "So should we export our garbage to Kern County instead?"
John, we already do that (Waste Management, Kettleman Hills, CA). But you do raise a good point. It's our mess, what do WE do?Remember Casmalia? That was a mess & a 1/2. Bad management, lack of $$$, enviro disaster. The thing is if we want to deal w/ waste we have to adopt some "high tech" methods of doing the following:
1) Storage.2) Neutralization.3) Recycling.4) Elimination.5) Mulching.
Of course, these would include methods like solvent dissolution of polymeric waste components w/ nasty solvents like toluene, xylene & a host of others depending on the type of polymers being dissolved & this requires sorting of the polymers.Neutralization & elimination involves either chemical processes or incineration @ very high temperatures. Recycling involves sorting & separation methods while mulching is strictly for plants ("green waste") as you well know. Then there's storage, the current process & the cheapest method available.Thing is garbage keeps piling up & up & before you know it you got Mt. Trashmore (like the 1 in W. VA).In all, if we want to solve the trash issues it'll have to come from our personal ends & in the public end it'll take technology. But that technology comes w/ a price tag due to the equipment, installation, upkeep & regulations as well as the safety engineering controls that apply tio those methods. That was an awesome question John & there are methods of waste management being researched on the private & public sector, but cost & regulations tend to impose limits on what can be done :) henry

AZ2SB: "You cannot control other people's actions"
Absolute truth dude, but you CAN control YOUR actions. Remember when we were kids & our mom or dad didn't let us hang out w/ a certain kid or group in the neighborhood? That's kind of a "administrative control" effort & the reason for it is because mom or dad knew something we as kids didn't know.Fast forward to the present. You KNOW there's people you choose NOT to hang w/. That my friend is exhibiting control upon YOUR actions & YOURSELF.I'll be honest w/ you, no names mentioned, I have some friends of past that I refuse to hang w/. Why? They're either thugs, gang scum, thieves, junkies, criminals.Do I hate them? No. Do I trust them? ABSOLUTELY NOT! Do I keep a safe distance from them? ALL OF THE TIME!They were once good people, but took a turn for the worse & refused to change, their version of "control" w/ consequences.

SezMerde: "You're too tight. Grease the 'ol palms better and you'll be a favorite. Like me."
You're greasin' something, but it ain't palms.
Aw Chestie, still bitter that the Miami Dolphins are the ONLY NFL team w/ an underfeated season? That I'm right (again) & you're just, well, Chestie? Aw, poor baby!Sorry you're so bitter Chestie. Lighten up, it'll do you well. Actually, not sorry, quite pleased by knowing what NOT to be like: YOU.By the way, there's actually quite a few articles written by me for the Indy as well as the UCSB Daily Nexus, BMX Today, Thrasher Magazine, Juice Magazine, The BMXer, International Society of Hybrid Microelectronics & a host of other publications as well as interviews by Maximum Rock & Roll & featured in some documentaries. There, that was an answer under the sun for you, now go do some yoga, drink some wine, wear your floppy hemp hat or something, it'll do you good :) henry

Alright, lets try this again, since SezMe is probably a favorite of the mods on here.Hey, not-so-smart entity, why don't you actually READ the post before making asinine assertions:
"What ticks me off is the morons that are too damned LAZY to go after 1 of those bags should it happen to blow away. There's the brunt of the problem."
The "brunt of the problem" is LAZY people & there's NOWHERE in there where I imply that my supposed pious policy should be the setting for anything public. But of course, SezMe , being the nanny state proponent is all about the state making the calls for all, even if they're capable of calling their own shots for the better.Just nother example of the "do as we say, not as we do" so-called "progressive" (not Progressives) that exemplify hate & prejudice. So hey SezIe, next time put down the prejudice toward me & actually READ THE POST will you?
Cycleboy, I hear you, but the landfill issue has been WAY overused. You might as well get rid of ALL plastic products if that's the case because they too litter/fill up landfills, as do wooden products, as do metallic products, as do ANY solid products that either don't biodegrade or are very slow to biodegrade. The best process for these bags is that of solvent dissolution & conversion to re-useable materials. After all, they do come from an organic synthesis, why can't they go out the same way then come back as something else? Oh, yeah, I know why: It costs $$$ :) henry

HAHAHAHA! yeah, you'd think there was a bullseye paited on the entrance.I remember when the BoA in Carpinteria got an unexpected visit from an elderly lady in a Cadillac. But seriously, if you think the problem is bad here, check out my home state of FL.There's youtube video of a car plowing through a Publix supermarket in Palm Coast, FL that you simply HAVE to see.It looked like a snowplow... A FAST moving snowplow! Surprised that NOBODY was kille in that accident! Watch the vid & you'll see what I mean :) henry

"This is what happens when you hang out with low life fools."&"what was he doing riding around with a bunch of gang banger losers?"
Yeah, rstein9 gets the "Nailed It On The Head" award for the day. You hang out w/ losers what can you expect?Look @ those 2 fools w/ no prior criminal record involved w/ the 2 parolees that stabbed someone on the Mesa.To top it off, those 2 fools were going to a party for yet another piece of garbage named Weiler (remember that class act?).You hang out w/ garbage the smell tends to attach itself to you & it is usually hard to wash off.Interestingly enough, in the Mesa stabbing 1 of those 2 "innocent" fools is also USMC.What rstein9 asks is WAY legit: What is it about seemingly "normal" people wanting to hang out w/ losers? Is it the allure of being a badass?Yeah, that'll go a LONG way once you're locked up & got a criminal record. Congrats bro, you're now a badass! Not saying that's the case w/ Mr. Lopez, but hanging w/ these clowns nearly cost him some opportunities in life.Let's hope, for his sake, he uses better character judgement in the future :) henry
