Two Los Angeles men were arrested in Santa Barbara on 7/3 for attempting to sell knock-off versions of high-end power tools to a foreman of a San Roque-area construction site. An investigation led police to believe the tools violated copyrights for various Bosch and Hitachi brand products. Santa Barbara Police Lt. Paul McCaffrey said a Buellton man had previously bought discounted tools that quickly broke and could have been counterfeit as well.
