Fifty-three Santa Barbara County homes were sold at auction in June after being foreclosed upon and returned to lenders, according to ForeclosureRadar, a company that tracks foreclosure auctions throughout the state. That amounts to approximately one home foreclosed for every 8,000 people, putting Santa Barbara in 29th place among California’s 58 counties for house foreclosure rates. Riverside was first, with one foreclosure for every 1,800 people, and Marin County last, with one in every 42,000 people losing a home to foreclosure.
