Santa Barbara Water Czar Resigns

Steve Mack, the City of Santa Barbara’s water czar since 1990, announced his resignation on 7/16. In a letter, Mack stressed he would only consider moving on to a water-related job, reflecting his unhappiness over the controversy surrounding his more recent duties as trash czar. In this position, Mack found himself caught between waste haulers BFI and MarBorg in a green waste dispute, which had City Hall sorting out matters relating to BFI overcharging customers for the green waste cans.
