A pound of cocaine

A five-month investigation led to the arrest of a Ventura man who authorities allege deals marijuana and cocaine in Santa Barbara.

Narcotics detectives from the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department conducted two search warrants on March 21, one in Ventura, and the other in the 1400 block of San Andres Street. The suspect, a 33-year-old, was found at the Santa Barbara address allegedly in possession of more than an ounce of cocaine packaged for sale.

In the Ventura residence in the 6700 block of Telephone Road, detectives found more than 1.2 pounds of cocaine, one pound of processed marijuana and about $28,000 in cash. The cocaine, authorities say, was found in a children’s play tent in the bedroom of the suspect daughter. The residence was also within 1,000 feet from a school, and the man was arrested and is in Santa Barbara County Jail with possession and transportation of cocaine for sale, possession of a controlled substance for sale within 1,000 feet of a school, child endangerment and possession of more than an ounce of marijuana. He is being held on $150,000 bail.
