City of Santa Barbara Parks & Recreation’s Aquacamp is filled with exciting adventures including water safety instruction, tide pool and marine life discovery, water games, boogie boarding, fishing, and arts and crafts. Sessions 1 and 3 visit the Long Beach Aquarium. In Session 2, kids learn about the Channel Islands and visit the Channel Islands Marine Sanctuary. Session 4 focuses on demonstrations by beach lifeguards, Harbor Patrol and paramedics with a beach bash at Refugio. Session 5 kids go bowling and visit the S.B. Zoo. All sessions include pier fishing from Stearns Wharf, guest speakers, and visiting a variety of beaches. Extended day is available for this camp for an extra fee.

ARC Babysitting Supercamp
In addition to becoming a certified ARC Babysitter, campers will learn how to use a fire extinguisher (practicing on a live controlled fire) and will learn eight basic water safety lessons. Beachside Tennis Club
The Beachside Tennis Club offers a variety of fun and instructional tennis programs year-round for adults and children of all ages and abilities. Programs include: private lessons, small group clinics, weekly summer camps, and year-round and seasonal club memberships for personal court-time play. Beach Stars Gymnastics Theme Camps

Beach Volleyball Clinic
All ability levels are welcome to join instructor and Santa Barbara Masters Champion Jon Lee at East Beach for a morning immersion in beach volleyball. Players are introduced to doubles and six-person team play and are coached on correct ball handling, passing, setting, and hitting. Learn why team strategy and understanding technique are a big part of the game. This class will challenge your child’s endurance. Bullseye! Archery Clinic
Try something new this summer and discover the sport of archery. This exciting and enjoyable sport promotes mental concentration, self-improvement, and self-esteem. All equipment provided. Clinics are by age group and limited in size. Instructor Lou Rovtar is an NAA Level 1 instructor at the Santa Ynez Bow Club.

Carpinteria Aqua Camp
Campers participate in a variety of recreational and educational activities including swimming, kayaking, tide pool exploration, crafts, games, cooking, and more. Certified lifeguards and water safety instructors teach swimming lessons and water safety. Aqua Campers develop their swimming skills at the Carpinteria Community Pool and Carpinteria Beach. Each session is highlighted by a trip to Hurricane Harbor, local field trips, and an overnight camping trip to a nearby park. Carpinteria Junior Lifeguards
Carpinteria Junior Lifeguards (JGs) program has been a summer favorite and a tradition since 1967. During this seven-week program, certified ocean lifeguards teach all aspects of life-guarding. Junior Lifeguards have great fun while they learn first aid skills, CPR, ocean ecology, beach and wave dynamics, and the value of spirited competition and physical fitness. JGs travel to neighboring communities to participate in swimming, running, and paddleboard competitions. All participants will be required to pass a non-competitive ocean and pool swim test. Carpinteria Kayaking Adventure Camp
Have fun learning basic kayaking and boating safety. Certified ocean lifeguards instruct campers on paddling technique and explore the nearby Carpinteria Reef and Kelp Beds. Waterproof cameras are recommended as campers may free dive from anchored kayaks. Snorkeling gear is not provided but is available at the Beach Store for a discount with proof of enrollment. Fishing gear that will safely fit on a kayak is welcome (age 16 and up need a valid fishing license). Register at the Carpinteria Community Pool. $145. Ages 10+. Carpinteria Sailing Camp
Have fun learning basic sailing and boating safety. Certified ocean lifeguards instruct campers on how to catch the wind and ride across the water. Cheerleading with the S.B. Spirit Academy Camp
Learn basic cheerleading movements integrated with tumbling, hip-hop dance, and competitive group performance techniques. This class includes some basic stretching and conditioning. Cheer Skills and Dance Thrills Camp
Get in the spirit this summer by enrolling in this new cheerleading clinic. This week-long camp offers instruction in basic cheers, sideline chants, dance choreography and half-time routines. Cheerleaders also learn about proper nutrition and receive tips on doing hair and make-up to achieve a professional level of stage presence. This five-day clinic culminates with a public performance for parents and friends.

Coach Pitch Baseball League
Emphasis is on fun and skill development for boys and girls. No score is kept. Learn how to throw, catch, hit, and run bases. One weekday practice and one Saturday game per week at MacKenzie Park baseball fields. Saturdays, June 21-July 26. Games begin at 10:30am or noon and last approximately one hour and 15 minutes. Doggone Fun Camp
This is the only camp where dogs attend camp along with their young human companions. Participants learn obedience training with their canine, exercise with their dog, and learn about dog health and responsible pet ownership. Dogs should be well-behaved around children and other dogs. Children must be able to handle their dogs. Dogs must have current vaccinations. Program limited to 10 campers and 10 pooches. Instructor: Cliff Sliber, CDT.

Junior Counselor Training for S.B. Parks & Recreation Nature Camp, Sports and Beach Camp, Aquacamp, and Skateboard Clinic
This training program is for young people who want to be treated like adults. High school-aged Junior Counselors have many opportunities for interaction with summer camp staff and campers while earning community service credit.

If your child loves the beach and ocean, they’ll be sure to enjoy this world-famous, nationally affiliated, and disciplined training program incorporating swimming, running, competition, and education. This popular program includes strenuous daily workouts, water safety, first aid, surf lifesaving, marine education, lifeguard competitions, and more. Physical fitness and development are balanced with self-esteem and camaraderie. Strong swimming skills are a must.
New participants must pass a non-competitive 100-meter swim in 2:20 or less, a 15-yard underwater swim, and tread water for 4 minutes. Junior Lifeguard Swim Lessons

Junior Tennis Clinic
Learning the sport of tennis is more than forehands, backhands, and serves. The game helps to develop mental, social, and physical skills that last a lifetime. Ka Nai’a Outrigger and Kayaking Clinic
Your child will enjoy the experience and challenges of kayaking and team paddling taught through professional coaching and supervision. Clinic includes paddling techniques, canoe and water safety, team competition, harbor paddling tours, swimming and ama-surfing. An award ceremony occurs the last day of each clinic. Beginning Clinic: Learn the basics of how to rig the kite, fly, launch, and land it, and how the safety systems work. After a thorough introduction to gear and safety components, our experienced instructors take you to the water for an introduction to body drags.
Intermediate Clinic: After learning the basics or returning from last summer’s clinic, this intermediate level helps you to become fully immersed in the sport. The focus is on water activities including body drags, beginning board skills, water re-launch, self-rescue and safety. All water instruction is accompanied by instructors who follow you downwind as your kite skills and confidence increase.

Learn to Swim
For participants who are ready to learn to swim, authorized Red Cross Water Safety Instructors will teach a variety of strokes, including the front crawl, back crawl, elementary backstroke, breaststroke, sidestroke, and butterfly.

Scuba Camp at Anacapa Dive Center
Allows young divers plenty of water time and builds their skills through fun activities, making them comfortable, competent divers. Must have own scuba-quality mask, snorkel, fins, booties, and be good swimmers, in good medical condition.

S.B. Parks & Recreation’s hip, athletic counselors make Sports and Beach Camp popular, fun, and challenging. Lively and varied activities include archery, nationball, flag football, ultimate Frisbee, and individual and team Olympic-style events.
