A Santa Barbara man was arrested for allegedly driving drunk after California Highway Patrol officers found him walking north on Milpas Street.

CHP units were notified of a traffic collision on southbound Highway 101, south of Salinas Street, and arrived to find an abandoned Nissan Xterra on the dirt next to the right shoulder. Abel Narciso, 27, was found a short time afterward, walking on Milpas Street, and, according to police reports, appearing to be impaired.

Officers allege Narciso was the driver of the Nissan at the time of the collision and that he exited the vehicle on the driver’s side and fled on foot before authorities arrived. As he related circumstances of the collision, he “displayed signs of alcohol impairment,” according to the collision report. He was taken to Goleta Valley Hospital, where he was examined for minor injuries before being booked into Santa Barbara County Jail on $25,000 bond.
