No Evacuations in Sycamore Canyon Fire
Official Word Not in Yet, but Station Personnel Believe Blaze Is Out
Fire personnel at both the City of Santa Barbara Fire Department and the Montecito Fire Department confirmed that no evacuation warnings or orders were issued for the Sycamore Canyon fire. Though no official word has come from battalion chiefs, a firefighter who answered the phone at the SBFD station said that they were listening to scanner traffic and it sounded as though the fire is effectively out. “Last we heard it had been knocked down,” he said. Dispatcher Patty Turgui at the Montecito Fire District also said that as far as she knew, it had been put out. She said it had sprung up in the Ranchito Vista Canyon View area.
