Kam Mofid Named Mainstream Energy President
Will Head SLO Solar Electric Equipment Provider
Mainstream Energy Corporation, one of North America’s leading suppliers of solar electric equipment and systems, has appointed Kam Mofid to the position of President.
In this capacity Kam Mofid will be responsible for charting and implementing the company’s strategic growth initiatives, including the overall management of its two business units, AEE Solar and REC Solar. AEE Solar is one of the oldest and largest renewable energy wholesale distributors in the United States. REC Solar is a leading provider of residential and commercial solar electric systems with more solar systems installed in the country in 2009 than any other company.
“We are extremely pleased to have Kam Mofid as President, a proven leader with a track record of driving growth and achieving outstanding results,” said Angiolo Laviziano, the CEO of Mainstream Energy. “Over the next three years we expect the PV industry to go through a phase of rapid consolidation. We see these changes as a tremendous opportunity, and with Kam as President, we are more excited than ever about the company’s future.”
Prior to joining Mainstream Energy, Mofid served with distinction in key leadership positions in major global industrial, aerospace, and automotive firms. Most recently, as Group President of the green technology arm of Teleflex Incorporated, he dramatically grew the company’s capabilities and market position in alternative fuels, emissions reduction, power management, and climate control products and technologies. Prior to Teleflex, Mofid was Director of Global Materials and Logistics at Pratt & Whitney, a United Technologies company. In the earlier part of his career, Kam held engineering and management positions at General Motors where he was named a Fellow of the Corporation.
“Mainstream Energy, AEE Solar, and REC Solar are strong companies with tremendous potential for significant growth, both short and long term,” said Mofid. “Accelerated growth coupled with rapidly changing market dynamics present a demanding set of challenges, and I look forward to working with the Board, the management team, and all of our employees to meet those challenges and realize the opportunity at hand.”
Mofid holds a B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo, a M.Sc. degree in Manufacturing Management from Kettering University, and a M.Sc. degree from Georgia Institute of Technology’s School of Industrial & Systems Engineering.
