Fatal Traffic Accident in Orcutt

Santa Barbara County Fire officials just released information about a fatal car accident that took place at 6:54 a.m. in Orcutt.

According to Fire Chief Michael Dyer, the accident occurred on West Betteravia Road, west of Black Road. Two vehicles — each driven by unidentified men — collided head-on. One of the men died at the scene and the other was transported to Marion Hospital with minor injuries.

It took rescuers, said Dyer, 20 minutes to extricate one of the victims from the wreckage using the Jaws of Life. The cause of the accident is under investigation by the CHP.
