Slippery When Wet

Dear Erin: I read your story concerning your bike crash up on Romero canyon, and I am sorry to hear that you have a broken hip. Nobody should go on a ride and end up with an injury like that! I am an avid cyclist and have crashed in the same spot myself. It sure is slick!

However, I have to say when I read that you had the intention of filing a lawsuit against the county, a county I support with overblown taxes, my sympathy for you dwindled.

What about taking responsibility for your actions? You entered the stream at what was most likely a faster than safe speed, and from personal experience, probably applied the front brakes, right? What do you expect to happen? To threaten a lawsuit which will take money from us, the hard working Santa Barbara citizens and throw it into your checking account is shameful.

I’m sorry, but this entitlement type attitude is what is destroying our local, state , and federal economies, and must end if we are to stay prosperous.

I hope you will reconsider your civil action, and just walk your bike next time!
