This weekend, the S.B. Trust for Historic Preservation is having a festival to celebrate the city’s past Asian-American neighborhood. Presidio Pastimes will offer a look at the history and culture of the Chinese and Japanese communities that once thrived around the presidio. Activities will include learning the art of origami, how to write a haiku, a demonstration of calligraphy, and craft stations for making dragon masks, kites, fans, and paper lanterns. There will also be Taiko drumming, an aikido demonstration, and a performance by the Dragon Dance Team from the S.B. Chinese School.
