Navigating the Recession
Goleta Chamber Hosts Annual Goleta Economic Summit September 24
The Goleta Chamber of Commerce will be holding the Annual Economic Summit next Friday, September 24 at the Fairview Theatre. The program will include a comprehensive presentation from Brendan Huffman, Executive Director of the Chambers of Commerce Alliance of Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties, on the local economy and how it connects to state politics; an overview of the local job market and the future of green business by the Santa Barbara County Workforce Investment Board; and will conclude with a panel focused on health care reform and how it will affect the Goleta business community.
“We’re looking forward to providing the Goleta business community with information vital to their future business operations.” stated Dr. Kathleen Boomer, committee chair for the event.
“There is a lot at stake for our local business community right now and a great need for businesses to have the right information to help them navigate the coming months,” said Kristen Amyx, President/CEO of the Chamber. “Information about the global, national, and even our State economy is easily accessible, so we will focus instead on local jobs, job creation, and the local workforce. We’ll also try to demystify health care reform and how it effects our local, Goleta-Santa Barbara businesses and we’ll take a look at the State and regional relationship to our local economy.”
Registration is still open for the event online or by calling 967.2500 ext 4. Breakfast will be served at 7:30am, provided by Marmalade Café, followed by the presentation at 8:00. The Fairview Theatre has comfortable seats, a great projection screen and sound system. You won’t want to miss this timely and informative event.
