Capps Needs Immigrant Vote
Immigrants make up 40 percent of the 23rd Congressional District. We are, among other things, entrepreneurs and taxpayers, and we care deeply about our community. Congresswoman Lois Capps understands this, and she needs our vote on (or before) November 2.
Lois Capps understands that immigrants play a major role in our community and in the Central Coast economy, and she has demonstrated this understanding through her consistent support for comprehensive immigration reform and her commitment to enhancing the dignity of all people.
Lois has encouraged the civic engagement of immigrants, listened to the concerns of immigrants, and provided a wide range of assistance for many local immigrant families.
Congresswoman Lois Capps also has a solid record on immigration reform. She has supported the DREAM Act, which would provide a path to legalization for young adults brought to this country as children if they serve in the military or earn their college degree. She has also supported the AgJobs bill that would grant much needed rights to the agricultural workforce and protect an important part of the Central Coast economy.
Most importantly, she supports humane and fair comprehensive immigration reform to secure our borders, protect our economy, and bring the millions of undocumented workers out of the shadows.
Lois’s Republican opponent has publicly demonized immigrants, and he supports a guest worker program that would create a group of second-class residents. His approach does not recognize the contributions of immigrants to this community and would be an ineffective tool in bringing different sectors of the community together, a skill highly needed in any elected position.
On immigration, Congresswoman Lois Capps will work towards practical solutions while upholding our values of equity, family and opportunity. A vote for Lois, is a vote for the much needed integration of the immigrant community.
