Jury selection is underway in the retrial of four defendants—Eastside gang members Ruben Mize, Bryan Medinilla, Raul Diaz, and Ricardo Nava—facing murder and attempted murder charges for a 2007 attack that left one teenage boy dead, and two others suffering from stab wounds. Lorenzo Carachure died on San Pascual Street in July 2007, when he was attacked while walking home. A jury was hung after two months of testimony last year, and the prosecution decided to retry the case against all four defendants.
