Supes Nix New Government Center

A new county government center in Santa Maria already set with a bid and financing was nixed on 2/15 by the Board of Supervisors. The supervisors, following 5th District Supervisor Steve Lavagnino’s lead, decided it wasn’t the best use of tax dollars and that the Betteravia Center, while not perfect, would suffice. The current center will be renamed after recently retired supervisor Joseph Centeno.
