Men Accused of Fatal Beating Appear in Court
Case Postponed to March 10
Brothers Miguel and Ismael Parra, along with Michael Cardenas and Steven Santana, appeared in court Friday morning to set a preliminary hearing for the case in which they stand accused of beating Milpas Street liquor store employee George Ied to death.
The four suspects, believed to be affiliated with the Eastside gang, face murder and gang enhancement charges for the attack, as well as separate charges of being active participants in a criminal street gang, and could potentially serve life in prison.
George Ied, who was 37 at the time of his death, was walking home from work during the early morning hours of October 12, 2010, when he was brutally hit and stomped a mere block away from his home.
A handful of family and friends came out in support of the accused men. Because not all attorneys were able to appear in court, however, the setting was pushed back a few weeks.
The preliminary hearing setting has been continued to March 10.
