My thanks goes to Angry Poodle for pointing out the tons of nuclear fuel rods stored at our local reactor. Given the age of this facility and its components, I hope that the request for license renewal will be denied. Furthermore, I recently listened to a long interview with a former construction inspector at Diablo who was forced to resign over his allegations of shoddy construction at the plant. First of all, we need to realize that PG&E possibly needed to cut corners due to time and cost concerns. But lastly, we need to consider our responsibility to the safety of future generations by seeking safer and more efficient energy sources.
