Where: 18 East Ortega Street, 568-0702, dargans.com.

What: A “Guinness Is Good for You” establishment.

How Much: Starters, $6-$12; lunch menu, all items, $8; dinner entrées, $14-$20.

The Dish: Whether you’re out for a night of revelry with friends or a bite and beer over billiards, Dargan’s provides a festive, high-energy environment just off of State Street. Two spacious rooms are connected by a central corridor: one housing a bar, casual dining area, and pool tables; the other home to a second bar, stage, and more seating. Stop by for traditional live Irish music and dancing on Thursdays from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Options for dining range widely from snacking plates for sharing to six different cuts of “Black Angus” certified steaks. Start off with Irish spud skins fried and topped with cheese, bacon, and ranch dressing, then make your way to traditional Irish entrée fare, including corned beef and cabbage and a steak-and-Guinness pie. An $8 lunch menu includes numerous options, from sesame-seared ahi to a messy BBQ pulled pork sandwich. With 14 beers on tap and two full bars, Dargan’s is cranking daily from lunch through happy hour to dinner and dancing.
