Pinks Slips Issued to Cut into County Deficit

Pink slips have been issued to dozens of people in several county departments—including at least 19 in General Services—in an effort to take a $25 million bite out of the $72 million budget gap. While the supervisors will be deliberating on the budget in June, the CEO’s office has recommended the remaining chunk be closed by increases in revenue, one-time funding sources, and spending reductions.
