In a follow-up to the story about the 51-year-old man who fell off the Rincon Road overpass onto Highway 101 under mysterious circumstances, a San Jose Police Department spokesperson said this morning that the man is under arrest for the stabbing of another 51-year-old man.

When Santa Barbara deputies responded to the original call yesterday, they ran his license plate and discovered he was a suspect in a San Jose assault case.

Currently, neither the motive of the stabbing nor the relationship between the two men is known, according to SJPD Public Information Officer, Jose Garcia. Two detectives from San Jose drove down to Santa Barbara this morning in order to speak with the suspect, who is currently in Cottage Hospital and under supervision.

The victim, who is in San Jose’s Regional Medical Center in critical condition, was stabbed on May 10 in the 1700 block of Kyra Circle.
