Memorial Highlighted Lopez’s Genial Nature
Faulding Residents and Staff Shared Memories of Man Who Died in PHF Unit
At a memorial service for Joseph Novoa Lopez on Thursday, August 18, residents and staff of the New Faulding Hotel shared memories of a man who had enormous physical and mental challenges, but who nevertheless managed to be courteous and convivial toward others most of the time.
“He was a beautiful person,” said John Jamison, a long time manager at the Santa Barbara Community Housing Corporation (CHC), which owns and runs the New Faulding. Jamison gave the green light to Lopez first moving into the Single Room Occupancy (SRO) six years ago. “Even in the midst of sorting out major issues, he would still want to how I was,” he recalled.
