Sycamore Canyon Road to Close; Kardashians May Be Fined for Not Securing Proper Permit
For those of us interested in either celebrity sightings or getting to our favorite beaches in a timely manner, a Kim Kardashian wedding update is in order.
The wedding will take place at 2845 Sycamore Canyon Road in Montecito and is set to start at 4 p.m. Due to heightened security and celebrity influx, Sycamore Canyon Road will be closed between Hot Springs Road and East Valley Road from noon to 8 p.m.
The CHP will be present to control traffic and advises motorists in the area to allow extra time for travel. The Sheriff’s Department will also be present but could not be reached for comment. According to CHP spokesperson Officer Jeremy Wayland, his agency’s overtime and extra personnel costs will be paid for by the company providing security for the wedding.
An interesting side note is that the Kardashians failed to file for an event permit and could be subject to a fine. They did file for a road closure permit and a film permit (E! Entertainment has exclusive rights to the event), but if they plan on having more that 300 guests and are using the venue commercially, they need a conditional use permit, according to Dianne Black of the county’s Planning and Development Department. She does not, however, see the issue impacting the wedding, which will reportedly cost $10 million.
If you are a Kardashian devotee, there will be a pedestrian area cordoned off on Sycamore Canyon Road for people to take photos. If you are not and prefer your town quiet and celebrity hoopla-free, then it is advised you take the coastal route to the beach on Saturday.
