Waiting for the Flood
With the Poodle, I have often thought of how much better everything would be if the Santa Barbara City Council hadn’t scrubbed the Blue Line. Like when I’m stuck in traffic behind a school bus full of other people’s kids and get to worrying about the effect of carbon emissions on the weather back East. As for lowering downtown property values, why not get them down to where small local businesses could again afford to locate on our main thoroughfare?
And, as the Poodle points out, we can cut traffic by 11 percent simply by telling our kids to walk to school, like their grandparents did. This would lessen our dependence on foreign oil, not to mention reducing childhood obesity. So there is clearly a lot of good Santa Barbarans can do while we wait for the deferred arrival of the Blue Line. Cheer up, Trixie!
