Mold Discovered in Adelante Charter School Portables

Mold has been discovered in four portable classrooms at Adelante Charter School on the Eastside. At a school board meeting Tuesday, David Hetyonk, director of facilities and operations, notified the board that a process of removing the invader has been approved and that a contractor — Channel Coast Corporation — has been hired. The mold at Adelante was discovered during siding replacement. Last year, a librarian with Washington Elementary School on the Mesa became ill from a severe mold case, which also gave some of the students headaches. It only took two weeks to stamp it out once the issue was identified, and Hetyonk hopes that it will not take much longer to remove it at Adelante.
