Larry Lavagnino Won’t Seek Reelection
Santa Maria Mayor Larry Lavagnino, after eight years serving in the city’s top elected spot, will not seek reelection next year. He has served on the City Council since 1996. According to reports, two current councilmembers — Mike Cordero and Alice Patino — have announced their intention to run for the spot. Lavagnino, who replaced Joseph Centeno when he became a county supervisor, was born and raised in Santa Maria.
