Some watch and wait for the ball to drop.

Others chase the ball yelling, “Stop!”

Some hear the ball dropped, but never see

The cause of its trajectory.

Some Santa Barbara guys recently dropped some balls

Off the beach, jumping over bureaucratic walls

Which they didn’t know were standing in their way,

Giving the people plenty of things to say.

“It is good that they did not wait.

The permits would only come after it’s too late.”

“They’re afraid of luring fish from the sanctuaries?!

No spot in the ocean is that safe, you pansies.”

“Way to justify dumping rubble in the ocean!

I hope others don’t put this idea in motion.”

“I hope their plan proves beneficial, as hoped,

And their motivation pure, not jagged or sloped.”

Then the ball dropper responded personally,

To the mud being slung haphazardly.

He gave his side then added an important fact,

To which he’s still waiting for the people to react.

“Those on this project don’t get paid a dime.

We love the ocean so much that we donate our time.”

There was no rebuttal, only silence on the net.

Perhaps not learning to juggle is a choice near all regret.
