Yellowstone Vintage Clothing Closes Its Doors
But Still Selling Merchandise Through eBay Store
After 31 years at their popular State Street location, owners Paul and Stephanie Haugen have closed the doors to Yellowstone Vintage Clothing. The business will now be operating completely online through its eBay store.
Yellowstone has had a presence on eBay since 2000 and has seen success there, so the decision to go online-only is not an abrupt one, Stephanie said. She emphasized that their decision was not due to rising rent costs or a slow decline in sales.
“We have done very well on eBay, [and] our retail end on State Street has been fabulous,” said Haugen. But, she went on, “We’ve finally decided to narrow down our business and start to kick back a little bit and produce more online.”
The store, which employed around four people at any one time, will likely continue to participate at area swap meets at the Haugen’s discretion.
“We were a billion times happy with our business [on State Street],” Stephanie said. “I can’t say anything negative about it. We’re so happy that it ended in positive terms, [and] we want to start to take a break for ourselves. What’s been the best part about it has been our wonderful customers.”
