Sober Living Center Head in Coma After Drug Overdose

Steve Hartman of the Lighthouse Foundation — which runs three sober living houses — is reportedly in a coma after having taken a drug overdose while a resident in another sober living residence. The 52-year-old Hartman has long struggled with the sobriety preached in his facilities. He and Lighthouse were recently sued by the family of a Lighthouse resident who died of a heroin overdose. In court pleadings, the family members alleged that Hartman had sold the deceased the heroin, but the case settled before ever going to trial. Terms of that settlement are confidential. The Lighthouse was reportedly started by Hartman’s grandfather, who himself struggled with addiction issues.
