Santa Barbara police officers responded to a call of an assault with a deadly weapon on Monday at 12:05 a.m. on Camino Calma, right next to the Mesa Shopping Center. According to SBPD spokesperson Sgt. Riley Harwood, officers arrived to find the 18-year-old male victim walking in the shopping center’s parking lot. He had been stabbed once but the wound wasn’t life-threatening, Harwood said. The victim was transported to Cottage Hospital for treatment. It’s not clear if the incident was gang-related, and authorities — citing the open investigation — have not released any more details on the stabbing.
