The supervisors approved an extra $49,000—for approximately $148,000 total—toward the preparation of an environmental review for the Cuyama Solar project. All costs will be borne by the applicant, First Solar. The company wants to install a 40-megawatt facility across more than 300 acres southeast of Cuyama, which would come with a 19,600-square-foot switchyard near PG&E’s substation. The project will likely head to the county’s Planning Commission in July, followed by the board in September.
