Santa Barbara resident Mark Medina, 30, was killed Tuesday morning in a single-car accident on Highway 101 at the Nojoqui Grade. According to a CHP report released Wednesday, Medina was traveling northbound in his Ford E450 truck at around 7:45 a.m. when, for unknown reasons, he drifted into the highway’s dirt center median. He traveled along the median until he collided with the end of a metal guardrail. Medina was trapped in his truck and succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the collision, CHP officials said.
