Supporters and boosters of the Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital celebrated the completion of a $12 million seismic retrofit and remodel this weekend. The new facility boasts a bigger emergency room, private healing gardens, a new imaging department, and expanded surgical capacity, not to mention an overall face-lift. A community-wide fundraising drive generated $7 million, and Cottage Hospital kicked in the other $5 million. Built in 1964, the Solvang facility affiliated with Cottage in 1995.
