Eddie Ozeta — SEIU 721 board president who works for the county’s Social Services — is challenging incumbent Peter Adam for 4th District supervisor. Originally from the Los Angeles area, Ozeta moved to Santa Barbara in 2012 after working for FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) and serving in the Marine Corps. “I consider myself real Republican,” he said, adding he is a member of the NRA (National Rifle Association) and the VFW (Veteran of Foreign Wars). “I pretty much have had to work for everything I have.”

Adam, who owns a giant commercial farm in Santa Maria, won his seat in an upset against Joni Gray in 2012. According to recent campaign finance reports, Adam has $43,739 cash on hand. Ozeta has not filed such forms. A candidate has until March 11 to join the race.
