John Houchin says that SB teachers are evaluated every two years based upon six teaching standards. However, the problem is that a teacher who clears that one formal evaluation is granted tenure on the first day of year three!
The large majority of administrators simply do not want to fight teacher unions & organization. Hence, they look the other way & hope the weak educator will either get better or eventually leave. Sure, the site administrator gets the poor teacher "help," but is this really effective?
What Houchin fails to mention is how many of those teachers are not rehired & sent packing. From my experience, very few.
Sadly, the large majority of people that are talented at something simply can't teach kids between K - 12. You have to know what makes kids "tick" first!
Tenure worked many years ago, but we have changed as a country & can't continue protecting an institution that is in a huge state of flux.
I say make the teachers WORK to keep their jobs just like most another businesses. After all, these are our future leaders & workers & they need to be ready for whatever comes their way.

Right on, ooshea.
In my opinion, the SBSO blew this one badly from the get go. That being the ill fated afternoon SIX officers interviewed Rodger at his apartment. They apparently NEVER checked the registered weapons database to see if this guy had ever purchased guns. This is simply inexcusable!
I wouldn't be surprised to hear Brown state later on as this botched interview comes front & center, that they did in fact check. If so, I say, Yeah, Right!
Sorry, SBSO, but you have to be on your "A Game" & the past year in IV, it's been more like your "D."

Why didn't the SBSO ever check to see if this whack job kid had purchased guns, considering they were there on a mental health check?
I'd think that would happen as routine prior to any visit of that nature.
Time for change, SBSO!
No more death at the hands of the mentally ill.

This is total hog wash!
Sheriff Bill et al are trying to convince all of us that the County will revert to Wild West status. They envision thugs running amuck, drug cartels coming in with their gangs and basically the entire county going to Hell in a hand basket. It's not going to happen!
How much longer are the supes willing to let roads fall apart? Guess what? You need to spend money to save in the end. I wonder what the cost of complete replacement roadways are vs timely upkeep?

I'm so sick & tired of Bill Brown & his department always crying poor & demanding the County to do it his way or else we citizens are going to die at the hands of thugs & suffer mayhem. ENOUGH, Sheriff Brown!
Here's another reason to vote YES on Measure M2014. Brown & his blindly loyal followers want us to think if the County maintains roads & parks at the level they should, that mayhem will ensue.

We absolutely DO NOT need the Mexican Mafia in SB to "collect taxes."
I say keep the heat up high & let these little slime balls do their "business" in some other county.
SB County has no need for this activity!
In fact the two main gangs might consider moving out of the area. A few nicer areas: Bakersfield, Nevada, Barstow, & Bull Head City.

Bottom Line: Bill Brown blew it badly by NOT closing down the streets as authorized by the Supes.
His excuse that it could be "argued both ways" & there wasn't enough time is complete B.S. It's their job to respond to any emergency. No excuses, thank you.
This guy needs a change of work environment & pronto. The upcoming election will give the community a chance to say if they are satisfied with his admin. style or enough is ENOUGH!

Time for the County, via the S.B.S.O, to triple the fines for an arrest at one of these unsponsored events.
No wiggle room either! Mommy & Daddy can pony up the funs or let their kid sit in the lockup for a "field trip" from UCSB they'll never forget.
If they don't attend school here, aka an outsider, then they too will have a memorable experience either kissing lots of dollars goodbye or checking out our jail. Heck, maybe they'll be the first to sit in Sheriff Bill's new Taj Mahal in Santa Maria.
