Members: Ashley Vincenti (vocals), David
Romblom (keys), Jeff Kranzler (bass), Dan Klemann (drums), and Ian
Macgregor (guitar).

Albums: No Shore, recorded at Orange
Whip Studios and released last January.

Prior Gigs: Reds, Legends, the Wildcat, Rocks,
Caruso Woods gallery, the Green Room, the Alibi Room.

Style: Unpretentious, artful rock ’n’ roll.
“Structurally, we’re a little bit heady,” explained Romblom, “but
we’d like to think we hide this from our listeners.”

Influences: According to Romblom, they are
“diverse.” Specifically, Ashley “used to be into artsy folk and
Bruce Springsteen, but has been pulled into a more intense, soulful
sound.” For Romblom, it’s “all about Radiohead, Portishead, and the
Beatles, plus 20th-century classical piano music.” Kranzler likes
“almost anything in the indie, acoustic, and punk genres.”
Klemann’s influences range from “the cerebral punk rock of Bad
Religion and Fugazi, to the fluid modern-rock of Shiner and the
Life and Times.”

The Skinny: whispertrip plans to release a
full-length album next year. The band’s live performances do more
justice to their sound. “Our live set is ‘the whole story’ these
days,” Romblom said. “No Shore is good … but the new stuff is
really exciting.”

In describing their motivations, Romblom said, “We want to
create music … with the emotional and musical depth that would
allow it to become part of somebody’s existence. We write
together  — and we fight like cats and dogs in the process — but
the result is something that each member is entirely behind.”

Next Gigs: August 17 at Caruso Woods Fine Arts
and August 22 at the Wildcat.
