 Fundraiser for Project Rwanda — which seeks to
purchase bicycles for workers in the Rwandan coffee industry — will
stage a nine-mile loop from Goleta Beach to More Mesa beginning at

Sun., Jan. 28 Vital
Volunteers:
 Veterans for Peace, the group that erects
crosses near Stearns Wharf in memory of the soldiers who have died
in Iraq, is seeking additional help to set up Arlington West every
Sunday. The weekly demonstration begins at 7:30 a.m. and is taken
down at 3:30 p.m. Those interested in helping should call

Wed., Jan. 31 Green Team: The
Santa Barbara City College Student Sustainability Coalition is
holding Global Warming Energy Action Day. The event will involve
live music at noon in the campus cafeteria, an on-campus screening
of An Inconvenient Truth at 6:30 p.m., and a Q&A with UCSB
geography professor Catherine Gautier and UCSB environmental

Santa Barbara Public Library System and Santa Barbara Reads
encourage residents to read Scott O’Dell’s Island of the Blue
Dolphins in conjunction with the Santa Barbara Symphony’s
presentation of a new composition based on the story later this
