Records
, a Santa Barbara-based independent record label, is
hosting a Double Record Release Party at SOhO Restaurant and Music
Club
, Wednesday, February 28, at 8pm. Local artist Zach Madden
is releasing Don’t Come Back Too Small and The White Fires
of Venus are debuting their album, Skin and Light. Opening
up the five dollar show will be the newest member of the Corporate
Nightmare family, Kinothek, a mood-driven rock band based out of
Buellton, currently at work writing and recording their first
full-length release. The middle set showcases The White Fires of
Venus, whose Skin and Light was recorded by musician Jeff
Sparks for CNR. They will be back by a full band for the
performance. Sparks’ sweet, dreamy sound mines the same fertile
musical grounds previously explored by Iron & Wine and Elliot
Smith. The final act, Santa Barbara’s own Zach Madden, will be
joined by a full band to perform songs off his follow-up to his
2003 self-titled debut. His lyric-driven folk-rock acoustic style
is reminiscent of Death Cab for Cutie, The Get Up Kids and Wilco.
